Ian works out on the landscape which he feels is essential in creating a sense of place within his work. He feels that the experience of time spent painting then becomes embodied in the piece and influences the final outcome always working at speed to capture the elusive changes of light and atmosphere.
Ian mentions that his work is about recording the experience and passage of time which he feels is reflected in this collection of his paintings.
He specialised in sculpture at The Gloucestershire College of Art and Design and then went on to do Post Graduate studies at Oxford. Ian Lectured at Cambridge University where he became interested in Painting and Ceramics but in 1997 left university to focus on his own work.
