|Date/Time:||Monday 16th July 2018, 10am - 4pm|
Using sketches, studies, collage and creative writing, Jilly will guide you through creating your own visual diary. Bring along personal mementos to include, such as a favourite recipe, cuttings from magazines, a wine label, an inspirational quote or a ticket to somewhere special. Every journal is an individual project and is a great way to record personal experiences and memories.
All abilities very welcome.
Jilly is an experienced tutor of 30 years. She used to run painting sessions in Henri Matisse’s former home in France where she lived and worked as a journalist.
A selection of materials are required to be brought along with you for the workshop, they are as follows:
A Moleskine style journal – Please note it does not have to be a Moleskine, any sketchbook with good quality paper of your choice is fine.
3 old magazines
A selection of watercolour paints
A selection of watercolour brushes
Pen / or ink & nib/dip pen
Some pencils, including a HB
Some soft pastels
Glue – either pritt stick or PVA
A sheet or 2 of black paper or card
Water pot (we do have some water pots but it’s always good to have extra)
Please also bring some personal mementos e.g a few of these types of things: cuttings from a magazine, an old hand written recipe, a wine label, a favourite poem, a saying, tickets from travel, a show or the cinema. We can incorporate these by illustrating them or copying them into the journal, embellishing them but using them as a start point to telling a visual story.
All are available to purchase in the Truro Arts shop and you will receive a 10% discount on all supplies on the day of workshop.
