Join visiting artist Rebecca as she demonstrates using soft pastels and charcoal to capture life and movement with figures in street scenes, landscapes and on the beach. Following this expert demonstration you will create quick sketches, in charcoal and pastel pencil of the human figure in motion. The final stage is to place these figures in street scenes and landscapes, using colour with soft pastels. Rebecca will be on hand to offer one-to-one support while you put new techniques into practice and experiment with all the possibilities of pastels.

Reference images will be provided but we would love you to bring your own photographs to work from, as long as they are large enough to work from, with good light and focus.

Rebecca’s work has become widely known over recent years for its energy, life and movement. Now living in Devon, she paints horses, people, landscapes and architecture, always seeking out the atmosphere and emotion in her subjects. Rebecca writes for Leisure Painter Magazine, and for the SAA, and along with fellow pastel artist Nel Whatmore, founded The New Pastel School in 2013, running courses in Yorkshire, Devon and Italy. Rebecca is an Associate member of the Society of Equestrian Artists, and has exhibited with the Pastel Society at the Mall Galleries in London. She has been shortlisted for the Artists and Illustrators, ‘Artist of the Year Award’ in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

All abilities very welcome.

Materials are available to purchase in the Truro Arts shop and you will receive a 10% discount on all supplies on the day of workshop.
