This workshop delivered by the Grand Prize winner of “Painting on the Edge” 2014 will introduce you to painting on location with soft pastels. Explore the process of painting on location, from how to choose what to paint, to simplifying the scene and drawing up a thumbnail. Students will learn to create quick colour studies, before blocking in the big shapes, and moving towards a completed painting. You will go over the importance of understanding values and how this knowledge can strengthen your work and liberate your colour choices. There will be plenty of one-on-one direction and demonstrations as needed so all abilities are supported. Gail will encourage you to be bold yet observant. It’s serious work with plenty of room for laughter and fun!
We will release details of the location and structure of each day ASAP.
