The Coach House is a large, open plan room on the ground floor of a period property nestled in the depths of the Cornish countryside, yet only an 8 minute drive from the centre of Truro. With three big windows, and large bi-folding doors that can be left open to ensure plenty of ventilation and light, the room looks out on a pretty, leafy, cobbled courtyard. A staircase leads to another bright room with additional room for students, and a sink for washing up paintbrushes.
Our class sizes are limited to a maximum of 14 – it’s important to us that our tutors can give each student the individual attention they deserve. This also means that there is plenty of room for social distancing so you can feel safe and comfortable whilst creating. Tutor demonstrations can take place outdoors if practical and weather permits, as can lunches, and there is also the potential to hold some workshops outside with plenty to inspire in the surrounding area – watch this space for news on this!
Location / Transport
The Coach House is 3.8 miles North East of Truro, postcode TR4 9AG. It’s only 8 minutes by car from the centre of Truro, with plenty of parking available on site. If driving, please follow signs to Bodrean Manor Farm – the Coach House is on the right just before it.
Public transport links: In order to enjoy all the benefits of an idyllic countryside location, we had to accept that public transport would be a compromise. There are a few options for public transport – please get in touch if this is essential to your ability to attend a workshop and we will do our best to help.

Food & Drink
Tea and coffee making facilities will be available for you to use throughout the day and water bottles can be refilled. We are looking to offer a lunch service, the options of which will be emailed to you a week or so before the workshop date. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch.
Each workshop requires students to supply their own materials according to the list provided by our artists, unless otherwise stated. Easels (Standing or tabletop) will be provided. We will be looking to offer a workshop materials service where anything you require on the materials list can be ordered ahead and will be ready for you at the venue on the day. You will still receive 10% off workshop supplies in the shop any time prior to the workshop and we are open 7 days a week!
As an extra precaution, we are asking our students to come armed with a facemask, and we will be supplying our tutors with a visor, to keep everyone safe. As there is plenty of space for social distancing, it won’t be necessary to wear these all the time whilst painting, but they will be useful for demonstration sessions, and where tutors are providing closer one-on one tuition. Hand gel and antibacterial wipes will be available throughout the day, and the studio will have been thoroughly cleansed and aired prior to each workshop.
The Coach house entrance is a step up from the cobbled courtyard and the toilets, although on the ground floor require a step up to enter. This means our space is not accessible to wheelchair users who are unable to stand/walk for a few steps. We are already looking at ways to become wheelchair friendly and welcome any questions on accessibility.
